Objective

The purpose of this course is for you to rapidly develop the necessary skills and knowledge to qualify as a domestic energy assessor, providing energy reports for Home Information Packs (HIPs).

Qualification

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the Domestic Energy Assessors Diploma Level 3. This qualification is provided by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE).

Duration

The course is available in two variants: "standard" and "fast track".

Fast track course

This version of the course is suitable for people with a high level of relevant prior experience in building-related professions or trades, such as estate agents or valuation surveyors.

The fast track course involves one week (5 days) of classroom based training backed up by supported self-study periods, followed by an assessment.

Depending on your available study time, you could realistically complete the fast track course programme, including assessment, in as little as 4 weeks.

Standard course

This version of the course is suitable for people with no relevant prior experience in building-related professions or trades.

The standard course involves 10 days of classroom based training over two (not necessarily consecutive) weeks backed up by supported self-study periods, and followed by an assessment.

Typically it will take you between 4 and 12 weeks to complete the standard course, pass the theory examination and complete the assessed assignments. The exact time will depend upon your previous relevant experience and knowledge, and your available time to study.

Part time study – tailored to individual needs

You may also study on a part time, or distance learning course.

Studied part time, the course takes approximately 6 months to complete. It is suitable for people with or without prior experience in the building professions or trades.
